  2008-09 STUDENT DRESS POLICY

The Marie Curie Institute of Engineering and Communications was established as a specialized magnet school in 2007. A dress code is a feature of this school that serves to enhance the program and its specialized curriculum.

  • Students will be required to follow the standard dress code outlined in the table below

  • Policy developed in previous versions of the District Policy for STUDENT DRESS will continued to be enforced

  • The Superintendent or his/her assignees shall continue to make decisions about the suitability of student clothing

Shirts/Blouses

  • Must have a collar

  • Must be one of the following solid colors: black, red, tan or white

  • Must be appropriately sized

  • Shirts must be tucked into pants

  • May be short or long sleeved, polo or button down

  • If a T-shirt is worn beneath the shirt/blouse, it must be solid white

  • No logos other than MCI school logo

  • WINTER-Turtlenecks will be permitted only in solid colors named above

 Pants

  • Must be one of the following solid colors: black, red, tan or white

  • Must be appropriately sized

  • May be pleated or flat front, with belt loops or elastic waist

  • No cargo style pants

  • No denim (blue jeans fabric)

Shorts

  • Must be one of the following solid colors: black, red, tan or white

  • No shorter than knee length

  • Must be appropriately sized

  • May have belt loops or elastic

  • No baggy shorts or athletic shorts

  • No cargo style shorts

  • No denim (blue jeans fabric)

Skirts/skorts/jumpers

  • Must be one of the following solid colors: black, red, tan or white

  • No shorter than knee length

  • Slits allowed on ankle length skirts/jumpers only

  • Slits may be no higher than the knee

  • No denim (blue jeans material)

  • No wraps around skirts

Sweaters/vests/sweatshirts

  • Must be one of the following solid colors: black, red, tan or white

  • May be worn with appropriate shirt/blouse

  • Shirt/blouse collars may be worn out when wearing a sweatshirt or vest

  • No logos permitted

Jackets/overcoats

  • Must be appropriately sized

  • Color at parents' discretion

  • May not be worn in the building once classes start in the morning

  • Sweatshirts with hoods are jackets and may not be worn in the builiding

Note: consideration will be given for variation to the dress code for religious reasons

Note: All other dress code guidelines in the Greater Amsterdam School District Student Code of Conduct will apply
