Classes

 

 
 
Studio in Art  

a prerequisite   to all other art courses.

an emphasis on the art elements and principles of design.

An overview of a variety of art media and techniques.

An introduction TO art history and hands on learning.

 

 

 

 

Drawing & Painting

 

 

An advanced art class specializing in Drawing

AND painting TECHNIQUES.

 

STUDENTS WILL EXPLORE A VARIETY OF ART MEDIA

INCLUDING CHARCOAL, CONTE CRAYON, INK

ACRYLIC AND OTHER WATER BASED PAINT.

 

STUDENTS WILL CONCENTRATE ON CREATING ART

WORK BASED ON REAL LIFE OBSERVATIONS WITH AN

EMPHASIS ON STILL-LIFE AND FIGURE DRAWING.

 

The purpose being to promote a personal style i

in rendering and color application.

 

students will also engage in critiques using the

language of art.

3-D SCULPTURE  

This is a hands-on course in which students get involved in the three dimensional production of art work. 

The course affords students an opportunity to experience a variety of media such as clay, wood, wire and plaster.

 

Advanced 3-d Sculpture  

 

students must already have taken 3d sculpture as a prerequisite to this course.

students will explore a variety of media with an emphasis on thematic design and self expression.

students will work on a larger scale than 3-d sculpture.

 

Advertising design

this course is an advanced half year course, students must have taken studio in art as a prerequisite.

this course is designed  to create a  understanding for the world of advertising .

students will learn the methods of  reproduction , layout, lettering simplification.

students will learn the history and psychology of advertising.

 

advanced studio in art  

 

this course caters to the senior art student who may have aspirations in the art field.

it affords the students an opportunity for an in- depth experience in the areas of drawing and painting, as well as pursuing their own ideas of interest.

there will be an emphasis on figure drawing, self portrait and oil painting.

portfolio preparation is also emphasized.

 

Fashion design  

This advanced half year  course offers a student a basic understanding of design, color, texture, and line as related to  fashion  design.

an emphasis on learning the proportions and stylization of the fashion figure.

students will create fashion layouts and fashion illustrations.

 

Appreciating art  

A half year art course designed to permit students to enrich their education through the study of art without having to concern themselves with proficient technical skills. 

Assignments will be equally balanced between academic and studio performance.

the students will be introduced to a variety of media for creative expression.

the course also emphasizes studying art critically and historically and forming educated opinions about works of art.
