To get from Hunters and Gatherers, people invented agriculture.  This is called the Agricultural Revolution.
This change allowed people to settle down and have a growing population.
These additional changes comprise the Neolithic Revolution.

To get from Herders and Farmers to Civilization, people literally invented the characteristics of Civilization.
This process is called the Urban Revolution.
