AHS
Guidance Department - The counselors' functions are to help the
student assess his/her own personal qualities and capabilities, to
make him/her aware of the variety of choices available to him/her,
and of the steps he/she must take to achieve the goals he/she seeks.
By talking with individual students, by studying information
recorded about them in the past, and by talking with members of the
high school staff and with parents, the counselor strives to know
his/her students. The counselor has contacts with the Student
Support Staff, the Mental Health Clinic, Social Services, and with
other agencies which provide services for students who require
assistance with the solution of their personal problems.

Student Support Staff - The services of the school
psychologist and social worker are a part of the high school counseling
program and are available to students. The school psychologist and
social worker are often asked to provide assistance to individual
students or their counselors, teachers, or parents to aid in making
decisions in personal, social, or educational matters. Students
may arrange to see the school psychologist or social worker through
their guidance counselor.
