Norman Rockwell

This activity will give you the opportunity to learn about Norman Rockwell and his life. Students will be reading and locating information on Norman Rockwell. Each student will team up with a partner and research information. Each group will collaborate the information gathered to create a poster presentation on one specific aspect of Norman Rockwell's life. This WebQuest supports the NYS English Language Arts Standards 1, 2, and 4.
Have you ever heard of Norman Rockwell? I’m sure you would recognize his artwork if you saw it. It’s that famous! Through this Webquest you will have an opportunity learn about Norman Rockwell and his work.

Quest(ions) and the Task
You are to the URL link that is provided for you in this WebQuest. Once you have answered those questions, you may choose two other students to be in your group and begin your research for your poster presentation. Each group member is to choose one aspect of Norman Rockwell’s life to research and present in an oral presentation. You will need to collect the information you choose to add to your group poster. You may print any pictures you wish to add to your poster as well as any research information you will be including. This is a collaborative project, so you must work together to make the presentation a success. Please review the rubric to see what is expected of you.
Each member of your group much choose one part of Norman Rockwell’s life to research. Each member of your group must have a different topic. You are each required to gather information and pictures to include in your group poster presentation. You will not be graded individually on this project. This is a collaborative project.
Directions:
1. Click here to print the Worksheet. Using the WebQuest provided, read and browse the website and answer the questions and learn about the different aspects of Norman Rockwell’s life.
2. Choose a partner to work on you poster presentation with. Each group member must choose one aspect of Norman Rockwell’s life to add to the poster presentation. You and your partner cannot talk about the same topic. You are each responsible for contributing your topic to the poster. You must cooperate with each other. If you disagree about an issue, do your best to resolve it peacefully. Remember, you will receive a collaborative grade, so working together is the key.
3. Be sure to organize your information and have a creative way of displaying it. Some ideas you may choose to use include concept maps, Venn diagrams, and illustrations with detailed descriptions.
