Kindergarteners learn about the business
of honeybees
Marie
Curie kindergarteners recently got a lesson on honeybees
from the Scotia-Glenville Children's Museum.
The lesson was titled "Honeybee Business," and
kindergarteners learned that bees are engineers and that
they have different jobs. For example, the worker bees are
called drones and are male, while the queen bee is the most
important bee in the hive and she lives longer than the
others. The bees work together to build the beehive and the
honeycomb inside.
The students were
allowed to try some honey and then they were able to
construct their own honeybees and honeycomb.
This program tied in exceptionally well with our engineering
theme and helped students learn more about bees and how they
are really engineers.
We look forward to
more programs like this in the future!
