2008 Taste of Amsterdam Poster Contest

Winners chosen for poster contest

Two Amsterdam High School students are winners of the 2008 Taste of Amsterdam poster contest.

Christina Fazio was awarded first place, which means her design will be showcased on the 2008 Taste of Amsterdam posters. She was also awarded a $500 scholarship. Elizabeth Druziak won second place, and her design will be featured on the cover of the 2008 Taste of Amsterdam program guide. Druziak was also awarded a $250 scholarship.

More than 20 Amsterdam High School students submitted their designs for the 2008 Taste of Amsterdam poster competition. Three professional artists judged the entries: Kathleen Oakes, signature member of the Central New York Water Color Society, Robert Strangle, a retired Galway art teacher, and Juliet Konieczny.

All of the poster contest submissions will be available for viewing at the Taste of Amsterdam scheduled for March 25, 2008 at Amsterdam High School from 5:30-9 p.m.

The Taste of Amsterdam is the annual fund raiser held in March to benefit the Amsterdam Dollars for Scholars charitable fund. The students were given a complex challenge to design a colorful poster that would both reflect the unique qualities of Amsterdam and announce the 2008 Taste of Amsterdam with style. All of the poster designs were remarkable and reflected the tremendous depth of talent present in the Amsterdam community.
