Field
trip to Eagle Mills Cider Mill
The Marie Curie Institute's first-grade
classes recently visited the Eagle Mills Cider Mill in
Broadalbin.
It was an exciting and educational trip for the
students, who learned about the inner workings and engineering
behind a cider mill. Students got a close-up view
of the cider-making process, as apples were brought in on a
conveyor belt, crushed, wrapped in a special cloth, then put
under a cider press where the juices flowed into special
containers.
The instructor explained the engineering process
every step of the way. Students were able to ask questions as
they went along and marveled at how cider is actually made.
This was a wonderful trip for our students, helping them to
learn more about engineering through the cider-making process.
