Scholarship money raised for students in foreign language classes
More than $1,000 was raised by the AHS Languages other than English Department to benefit Latin and Spanish students.

More than $1,000 was raised recently to fund college scholarships for students in Latin and Spanish language classes.

The Languages Other Than English Department held its Latin Quarter Feast on Thursday, May 7 at the high school. Students in Spanish 3 and Latin 3 classes made unique international dishes for the faculty and students to sample. Dishes included baklava, paella, pico de gallo, empanadas, plátanos rellenos, Mexican pizza, tembleque, tres reyes cake, polvorones, Mexican ice cream, tortilla Española and gazpacho. Recipes were provided so the scrumptious delicacies could be made at home. All proceeds will be used to fund college scholarships for students in Latin and Spanish language classes.

In addition, the fourth annual Spanish Talent Show was held on Thursday, May 7 at the high school. Luis Benitez came in third place with his a capella performance. Sean Whitty and Milena Carrese won second place with their wonderful Salsa dancing. Zack Heaton took first place with his own music video and lip synching performance.

Congratulations to all who participated in these events. Your hard work really paid off!
