November 2009

Dear Parents,

November will be a very busy month around the District.  Elementary parent/teacher conferences concluded on November 2 and 3.  Hopefully, most of you were able to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher for a progress report.

School will not be in session on Wednesday, November 11, in observance of Veterans’ Day and Friday, November 13, for our Superintendent’s Conference Day.  On November 25, 26 and 27 school will be closed for Thanksgiving recess.  The Greater Amsterdam School District will be conducting its annual Emergency Evacuation Drill on Tuesday, November 24, when students will be dismissed 15 minutes earlier than normal.

H1N1 symptoms continue to be monitored by the District.  Hand sanitizers and canister wipes have been distributed to each building.  As soon as the dispensers arrive they will be placed in each classroom with hand sanitizer liquid.  Thank you to everyone for following the guidelines on our website and information sent home about precautions and symptoms.  Our health office staff are doing a wonderful job of identifying flu like symptoms and notifying parents.

On behalf of the Greater Amsterdam School District, I would like to extend my best wishes for everyone to have a safe and pleasant Thanksgiving.

Thomas F. Perillo
