Dear
Kindergarten Parents,
The following
outlines several of the procedures and routines:
MILK
MONEY
Milk money for
snack time is collected ONLY ON FRIDAY MORNINGS unless
your child is absent on Friday (send the money in on
Monday) or the school notifies you otherwise. The
cost for milk is $1.50 for one week. You can
only purchase snack milk one week at a time!! I
will always ask you to send in the milk money in a
sealed envelope, labeled with your child’s name, “milk
money,” and whether he/she wants white or chocolate
milk. Place this envelope in your child’s two-pocket
folder. Milk money will start being collected on
Friday, September 15th; therefore, snack milk
will be served starting the week of September 18th.
Until then, please send in a beverage for your child to
drink at snack time, as none will be available at
school.
SNACK
We have “snack
time” scheduled each day. Children who order milk will
receive it then. If your child does not care to order
milk, a beverage may be sent from home (no soda is
allowed). Our class will have a rotating schedule for
your child to provide snack to the entire class,
approximately 25 students. Your child will be scheduled
to send in class snacks monthly. You will receive a
calendar schedule each month telling who is to provide
snack each day. Please keep this calendar in a handy
spot for your reference…the refrigerator is a good spot!
Your child will also have a birthday snack day on
his/her birthday, or the school day nearest to it, so
you can send in a special birthday treat, if you wish.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO SEND IN A SNACK ON YOUR SCHEULED DAY,
AS THE ENTIRE CLASS DENPENDS ON IT!!! Healthy,
store-bought snacks are encouraged (vegetables, fruit,
cheese and crackers, pretzels, raisins, etc.)
LUNCH
All Kindergarten
children will be eating lunch in the cafeteria from
11:15 to 11:45. A peanut butter and jelly sandwich can
be ordered in place of the main entrée, if your child
does not care for the entrée that day. Again, since
loose change gets lost easily, I ask that you always
send lunch money in a sealed envelope labeled with your
child’s name and what he/she will be buying. You will
receive a monthly menu so that you will know in advance
what is being served in the cafeteria each day. You may
also send in your child’s lunch from home on any given
day. PLEASE BE SURE YOUR CHILD KNOWS WHAT HE/SHE IS
HAVING FOR LUNCH EACH DAY!! Applications for free or
reduced-price lunch were already sent home. These forms
need to be returned no later than September 30th
in order for your child to receive free or reduced-price
lunch!!
BAKE SALES
Every month a
grade level will sponsor a bake sale. If you would like
your child to buy a bake sale item, please send in money
in a sealed envelope labeled with your child’s name and
“bake sale money.”
BOOK
ORDERS
Book order forms
will be sent home monthly. I encourage you to start a
“library” for your child at home by purchasing books
through these orders. There are a wide variety of books
for your child’s varying interests. You also get some
great deals through the book orders!!
2-POCKET
FOLDER
The 2-pocket
folder mentioned on the supply list is VERY IMPORTANT!!
Please be sure your child has one as soon as possible.
Each day, all papers, notes, money envelopes, or other
items from home to school will be placed in the folder.
I ask that you empty the folder at home each day, and go
through the enclosed papers. Any important notes, money
envelopes, etc. to be brought to school, should be
placed into this folder. I check these folders daily
each morning.
SHOW
& TELL
Show & Tell is
an important part of our Kindergarten program. Your
child may bring in something to show the class and tell
us about it on the day he/she is scheduled to bring the
class snack. This is designated as your child’s Helper
Day. On the snack calendar, I will indicate what letter
of the alphabet we will be learning that week. It is
always neat when a child’s show & tell item represents
that letter. For example, during Rr week, a child might
bring in their rock collection. Try to find “different”
show & tell items other than toys. Also, have your
child bring in their favorite story to share with the
class, we will read it that day.
BIRTHDAYS
Unfortunately,
the school does not allow us to pass out birthday party
invitations in school. If your child wishes to have a
party outside of school, you must contact classmates
directly. Sorry!!
SNEAKERS
FOR P.E.
Your child MUST
wear sneakers on physical education days in order to be
allowed to participate in class on the gym floor!!
RECESS
We will be going
outside as the weather permits. Please dress your child
appropriately for outdoor play throughout the year.
ABSENCE
EXCUSES
Please send in
an excuse if your child is absent, stating the reason
for the absence.
Let's work
together to make this year a great Kindergarten
experience for your child!!
