Requirements for students in Grades K-3 1. Services are to be provided to students who lack reading readiness skills, as determined by appraisals of the student, including his/her knowledge of sounds and letters, or are determined to be at risk of not achieving the New York State designated performance level in English language arts and/or mathematics. 2. Students who score at or below the 23% on the standardized test ( currently the Terra Nova) are considered for services. 3. Students achieving a final reading average of 65% or lower are considered for services. 4. Students failing multiple unit tests (65% or below) in reading during the school year will be considered. 5. Intensity of services or student monitoring will be given to students that score between 24%-35% on the standardized test and/or a level 2 on the ELA. Requirements for students in Grades 4-8 1. Services are to be provided to students below the New York State designated performance level ( a level 1) on one or more New York State assessments (ELA, math, science, social studies) or who are at risk of not achieving the standards in English Language Arts, mathematics, social studies, or science. 2. Students who achieve a final reading average of 65% or lower are considered for services. 3. Students who score a level 2 on the ELA will be monitored or receive intensity of services.
